Muslim women race in Britain are choosing to engage in polygamous relationships due to lack of suitable men.

Some of them even become the choice of second or third wife to married men, according to the Islamic Sharia Council.

The organization, based in Britain, provides legal guidance to Muslims and says it is receiving a large number of inquiries from women struggling to find suitable partners.

Many women have said they would prefer to hold high-profile jobs instead of caring for their husbands.

Taking more than one wife is illegal in the UK, but men remarry in a religious ceremony nikah, allowing them to have up to four wives.

Mizan Raja, 35, who organizes Muslim marriages around the world, said the Sunday Times, which has had hundreds of calls in the last six months from women who ask to become second wives.

Mr. Raja said: "Demand for these relationships is run by women, not men. In a generation of women have become cult, business and professional.

"The Muslim community is struggling with this, how to deal with women wearing pants?

He said many Muslim men wanted only a "housewife" and go home to a clean house and a plate of food on the table.

He added that men do not want the "headache" of being in a relationship with a professional woman.

It is believed that Muslim women are also actively seeking married men because they do not want the hassle of having to cook for their husbands after a hard day of work and are very happy to have part-time relationships.

A woman who spoke to The Sunday Times, and who declined to be identified, had an affair with a married man after divorcing her first husband.

When he offered to leave his wife that she preferred to be his second wife, because she did not want "in their shoes 24/7 '.

It is believed that about 12,000 brides are brought to the UK by Muslim men.

The decrease in available husbands has become a problem that is now known as the 'Muslim spinster crisis'
